I grew up in Somerset, Pennsylvania, where I attended school and graduated from Somerset Area Senior High School. Throughout high school I was actively involved in many aspects of music including: Somerset High School Chorus, Marching Band, Concert Band, Orchestra, and chamber groups. Additionally, I was a frequent attendee of many PMEA festivals including District Band, District Orchestra, Regional Band, and Regional Orchestra and All-State Wind Ensemble, as well as a participant in the IUP Honors band.
Upon graduating from Somerset Area High School, I auditioned and was accepted into the Grove City College Department of Music as a Music Education major with a concentration in French Horn. I was involved in numerous performing ensembles at Grove City, both instrumental and vocal. The instrumental ensembles I participated in were; the GCC Wolverine Marching Band, Concert Band, Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Orchestra, brass quintet, French horn ensemble, and woodwind quintet . Vocally, I have been a member of Chapel Choir and GCC Singers.
I had many opportunities to serve in leadership positions while at Grove City. I served as student leader of numerous ensembles, small ensemble coordinator, student assistant in the music department office, vice-president of the Wolverine marching band, secretary, vice-president, and president of the Grove City College MENC/PMEA Chapter. In addition to studying privately on the French horn, I also took private lessons in piano. Outside of GCC I was selected to perform in the Pennsylvania Intercollegiate Band twice.
During the 2011-2012 school I have been a substitute teacher at North Star, Somerset and Berlin School Districts in Pennsylvania. Currently, I am teaching elementary general music at North Star School district for 8 weeks. For the past four yeas I have had the opportunity to be the brass and marching instructor for the Somerset Golden Eagle Marching Band. This past summer I had the opportunity to be the percussion instructor.
